Author Christian Moore came to visit my school district today. He described his childhood and the challenges he had to overcome in his lifetime, being in special education being one of them.
His book, “The Resilience Breakthrough” is incredible! He describes how all emotions are energy—both positive and negative emotions—and how we can use any emotions and experience to channel positive things into our lives.
Reading this book has been a powerful experience for me!
Then one of the parents of a survivor of the shooting at Columbine came to speak to us. This parent is a living example of Christian’s principles. He is taking his pain and working to make the world a better place because of it. He is going around to elementary schools and trying to implement programs and strategies to help children who are hopeless, whose friends have been killed in similar shooting situations, and schools to have good strategies/plans in place. My heart goes out to him, as a survivor of my own tragic experience loosing a loved one, I understand his agony in this situation. I am in awe of how he is choosing to handle his pain and it is inspiring to me to want to be stronger and better as well.
